The LCD panel industry landscape will be reshaped in 2026: Chinese manufacturers' market share will exceed 70%
2026-08-05
After a mild recovery in 2024, the global LCD panel market officially entered a new stage of "inventory competition and profit priority" from 2025 to 2026. According to the data from CEC Intelligence, the global LCD display panel shipments in 2025 were approximately 164 million pieces, with a year-on-year growth of 2.1%, but the growth rate was significantly narrower compared to previous years. In 2026, the shipment volume is expected to slightly decline to 163 million pieces, but due to the trend of larger sizes, the shipment area still maintained a positive growth.
The most notable change is in the industrial landscape. The global market share of LCD display panels produced by Chinese mainland manufacturers has risen from approximately 65% in 2024 to over 72% by the beginning of 2026. Among them, BOE holds a stable position as the top player with approximately 30% share, while CSOT follows closely with 21%. The South Korean company LGD actually withdrew from the large-sized LCD competition after selling its Guangzhou production line. LCD panels have entered a dual-dominant era led by "BOE + CSOT", and the highly concentrated market structure gives the leading manufacturers stronger bargaining power.
The business strategies of panel manufacturers have completely shifted from "full production and full sales" to "production based on demand". In 2025, the average operating rate of LCD production lines worldwide will remain within the range of 76% to 80%. Leading manufacturers will actively control production during off-seasons to maintain price stability. TCL Star's net profit in the first three quarters of 2025 increased by 53.5% compared to the previous year, while BOE's increased by 39%. "Controlling production to protect profits" will become the long-term operating logic of the industry.
